Terri pulled together the salvaged
materials and decorative accents that
give the play set, shed, and patio
personality. “Everything I chose for
the yard, our designer found the
perfect place for,” she says. “Brett
is practical and organized. The
watering system and the lighting
were his work, and he did a great job.”
W hile it all started with a
therapeutic play area for Connor,
the expanded project fulfilled the
Benninks’ wish for a place where
friends could gather for family-style
birthday parties, barbecues, and
bingo. “Every single day I ’m glad we
invested in this project,” Terri says.
“Every day there is a return on it.”

PERSONAL TOUCHES
Terri chose the fountain,
top, early in the design process, and it set the
tone for the aged look of the garden. Her
favorite plant colors—pinks and whites—from
plants such as
B runnera variegata, above,
and
clematis and roses,
le ft,
fill the garden.
